Hongya Cave, is the most famous cluster of Diaojiao buildings (wooden houses built on stilts) in Chongqing city full of the traditional characteristics of Ba-yu culture. It is also the location where one of the 17 old town gates of ancient Chongqing - Hongya gate located.

洪崖洞，是重庆最著名的具有巴渝传统特色的吊脚楼建筑群，地处十七座古重庆老城门之一。

The Hongya Cave, along the Jianing and Yangzi river, is built on the mountain, cascaded up, layer by layer. The highest building is about 13-storeyed high above the ground. Behind the distinct quaint wooden architectures, there are high-rised modern buildings standing row by row.

洪崖洞，依山就势，沿江而建，层叠而上，分层筑台，错落有致。最高的吊脚楼群离地面达 13 层楼之高。而传统建筑的背后是一片鳞次栉比的高楼大厦，相互辉映。

The local mountainous terrain brings up the distinct architectural features and urban experiences, that both the highest and lowest ground of the wooden buildings are connecting to the wide roads outside.

当地特有的山地地形，让建筑的最底层和最高层对外衔接的都是宽阔的马路，造就独具一格的建筑特色和城市体验。

The most pleasant things to do here in Chongqing Hongya Cave are that go through the wooden buildings on stilts, eat Chongqing hot pot at the bottom ground, view the convergence of two rivers and feel the Ba-yu culture and their life.
